The theme of this entire NCAA Bowl season has been
"underdog." Weak Teams unexpectedly win.
This morning, I woke up to find that I am leading Rocky Bowl
for the first time in my life evah ...
I was (3) points ahead of Debbie
"Ney-Ney" Tanay (I don't like her nipping at my heals. . . ) in a
bunched up leader pack ...
But when I check the Leaderboard. . . ready to BASK in some
form of temporary glory. . . and what do I find. . .
Duane "the Rock" Redelsheimer -
Currently #34 - because he has the most "Points Possible."
Really? Seriously?!?
I am losing to a guy named DUANE because he couldn't figure out
how to front-load his picks?
How am I going to get on the Rachel Maddow show? I
need to Tweet the LeaderBoard to MSNBC. I want to sit across from
Charlie Rose and drink strong coffee and discuss nihilistic philosophy. . . But
I can't ... because DUANE needs encouragement.
How am I supposed to pick up Hot Chicks with the leaderboard
all messed up? Gain the Fame and Notoriety due to the 1-day Rockybowl
Leader? I'm like a 24-hour Fruit Fly with no fruit!
I want to BASK. I can't BASK like this. This
isn't BASKING. . . I am so embarrassed. . . please don't tell Kurt
Schlicker ...

After LSU & Georgia Tech's wins today it looks like DEBBIE NAY-NAY TAYNAY is in the lead. Glory fades like the sunset.

What a magical day this has been. It started like any other day, woke up at 4AM to work on a project that was due by Saturday night. Got the kids fed. . . woke up my beautiful spouse. . .
Then like the Wicked Witch of the East.. I was flattened when I opened RockyBowl to find, to my profound surprise, that I was on the Leaderboard. . . and not just that, I was ON TOP of the Leaderboard.
After updating my Facebook status (for my peeps). . . I contact Steve (who likes to be called "Rocky") to confirm my position. Steve-Rocky is good with numbers and he confirmed I was (3) points ahead of Deb "Yes, Those Shoes!" Tanay. . . Some people are after my Lucky Charms. . . and Deb is after my Ruby slippers.
For the first time in my life. . . I'm a contender! [exerpted. . .]
After my hands stopped trembling I phoned my Mom. [exerpted. . .]
I went back to bed so I could wake up AGAIN as the Leader of the Rockybowl. [exerpted. . .]
. . . (arms are ) bruised from Pinching Myself. . . [exerpted. . .]
. . .s omeone must have told the neighbors because they were setting off fireworks all evening long. But enough is enough. . . I had to call the cops on them around 11:30PM and they knocked it off.

I woke this morning and was still the Leader. . . BLISS! NFL = NO COLLEGE GAMES = ONE MORE DAY ON TOP!!!
But the tension is getting to me. . . the trembling has gone. . . but I'm drinking caffeine like a junkie coming off the high. . . that Dragon is chasing me. . . And Debbie! It's like I see her around every corner. . . trying to take my Glory. . . my Crown. . . my major mojo. . .
The life of an Itinerant Philosopher (and part time Physician) is exploring the Human Condition from all angles. . . the state I find myself in is quite Jungian. . . How I'm propelled to the top. . . to breath the thin air of excellence. . . only to fall back to Earth. . . Icarus I am not. . .

Dear Diary,
Man! Do NOT mix Whiskey with Wine. . . It hurts in a way that just wrong.
In a few hours the Bowls will commence. . . and win or lose, I won't the the Leader.
Even if I win all the games from here on. . . the weighting is such that I could maybe finish 6th. . . If I win, others win even more. . . and my lead shrinks until I've behind. . .
Napoleon was right. . . Fame is Fleeting. . . Obscurity is Forever.
